Meshallal Cheese is a cheese made from cow's milk, the cheese contains some spices from the Middle East known as Mahlab (or Mahlebi, Mahleb). The black spots in the stringy cheese are the seeds of the nigella sativa plant, called ḥabbat al-barakah or the “seed of blessing,” which is seasoned with a unique flavor. During the growing process, the cheese is pulled in a way that creates elasticity, and then braided tightly.
